Not to mention having one of the most kick-ass guitar solos ever at 1:14.
In one of their perhaps lesser-known songs, The Byrds outdid themselves with this anthem that anyone who has “had enough” can identify with. Written by Gene Clark, the lead singer in the video, “I’ll Feel a Whole Lot Better” is one of many standout hits from the Byrds. Although, the song is not quite as well known as something like “Turn, Turn, Turn” or “Mr. Tamborine Man”.
The Byrds members originally included Jim McGuinn (vocals, lead guitar on the Rickenbacher 12-string), Gene Clark (vocals, tamborine), David Crosby (rhythm guitar, vocals), Chris Hillman (bass, vocals), and Michael Clarke (drums).
The Byrds were and are still known for their incredible harmonies. The guitar work on the legendary Rickenbacher 12-string really shines through on this track, and along with same kind of sound in their other hits, no doubt inspired many to take up learning to play that guitar.
The song was great musically, and also perfect for anyone finally seeing the light and saying “I’m not gonna play your games anymore!”
