| Mystery solved about “You’re So Vain”, or still guessing?
The song, released in November, 1972 by Carly Simon, has inspired much speculation over the years as to who the song is about. Some people have said it’s Warren Beatty, David Geffen, or even Mick Jagger. Jagger, of course, sang background harmony in part of the song.
On the anniversary of the song’s release, we’ve tried to find whether the subject of the song was ever revealed, and as far as we can tell, it never has been.
Here is a live version of the song done a few years ago. What stands out about Carly Simon’s live performances is that she sounds exactly like the recordings. She uses her amazing voice to effortlessly perform one of the great pop songs in memory.
